Joseph passed away at home, on January 22, 2021 at the age of 92, with his loving wife by his side.

Joe, the eldest son, was born in Whitney South Dakota to James and Wyona Shockley. At a young age his father passed away suddenly and soon Joe became the man of the house. In 1951 he enlisted into the Army in Lemmon SD, but before he left for his 2 years of duty, he met Rondii, the love of his life and future wife. He was a Veteran of the Korean war and was awarded “The Korean Service Metal” w/2 Bronze service stars, ROK Presidential Unit Citation as well as Meritorious Unit Commendation.

Upon his return to Lemmon S.D. from Korea, Joe and Rondii were married in the Lutheran church in Lemmon S.D. and were happily married for 67 years.
Joe enjoyed people, which made him a success in the business’ he managed or owned.
He was a talented carpenter. from building his and Rondii’s home to remolding homes, as well as an assortment of wood working projects.

A sportsman at heart, he enjoyed hunting and fishing…but mostly fishing! He always carried his fishing pole in case there was a stream around he could “wet a line”.
He was proceeded in death by his father James, his mother Wyona, sisters Dora Lee Gaaskjolen, Aldeen Hoffla, and daughter Robyn Lea Shockley.

He is survived by his wife Rondii Shockley, sister, Jenny Lee Hess, brother Willis (Bill) Shockley, son, James Shockley, daughter Julie (Rick) Featherston, son, Lu Shockley, grandsons Nick Featherston and Alec Shockley. 3 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

A private military honors committal will be held at Snake River Canyon National Cemetery, Buhl, Idaho. For condolences and tribute page, visit Services are under the care of Serenity Funeral Chapel Life Celebration Center & Cremation Services of Idaho, Twin Falls.
