Linda Marie Calhoun, 76 of Castleford, died peacefully on Thursday, May 6, 2021 after a spirited fight with lung & colon cancer.

Linda was born July 19, 1944 to Marvin “Bud” J. and Geraldine “Gerry” Snyder in Boise Idaho. She attended schools in Burley, graduated from Twin Falls High school and later moved to Castleford where she raised her four children.

Linda worked various jobs through her life, cutting seed spuds, working on the spud harvesters, tending bar and cooking at the King & Harts bar & cafe, where she was well liked and demanded her customers “toe the line” while she was on shift. She later began working at Fields 66 in Buhl. The Fields’ family was so good to Linda. They became an extended family. Cortlin Runyan (grandson of the Fields family) was often referred to as her grandson and he certainly took on the role with pride and love.

There were many fond memories of Linda, which included, camping at Murphy’s Hot Springs, hunting and riding motorcycles. These wonderful times were spent with the Vulgamore, Crowley and Sample families, and they were all a special tradition for several years.

Linda will be greatly missed; she touched many in different and special ways. We all knew her as a feisty, self-sufficient woman and no one ever wondered what she was thinking because she would certainly let you know (even when you didn’t want her to).

She is survived by her four children: Ken Burgess (Patrice) of Boise; Tara Lane (Randy) of Nampa; Stefanie Gingles (Bill) of Las Vegas; Emily Calhoun of Pocatello; six grandchildren; Nathan Bulkley of Portland, Rachel Pfaff (Ryan) of Meridian, Bradley Burgess and Kelly Burgess of Boise, Olivia Gingles and Makenzie Gingles of Las Vegas; great grandsons, Brodie Harris and Michael Pfaff of Meridian; her brothers, John (Kathy) Snyder of Moses Lake, WA, Ron (Sharon) Snyder of Nampa, and Rick Snyder of Boise.

She was preceded in death by her parents and life-long partner in crime, Jim “Bub” Wiggins, a man with a heart of gold.

As per Mom’s request, there will not be a service. A private family gathering with Mom’s brothers, kids and grandchildren will take place at a later date. A special thanks to Serenity Transitional Care! In lieu of flowers please donate to the Castleford Quick Response Unit or Interlink Volunteer Caregivers. Both of these organizations were a tremendous blessing to our family.

Kenny, Tara, Stephanie and Emily,
I have lots of great memories of working, BBQ's, trips to Jarbidge and many other times spent with Linda in the years I lived in Castleford and working with her at the King and Harts. I stopped and visited her on numerous occasions even after I moved away. Linda and Bub were very special people in my life and I miss them dearly. Please accept my condolences and God bless all of you during this sad time.

Linda gave my brother years of happiness and love for which our family will always be grateful. She was also so kind and helpful to my mom. I love your obituary — you captured your mom’s personality perfectly—and I want to thank you so much for your kind words about Bub. I am so sorry we could not have had many, many more years with both of them. Thank you and please accept my sincere condolences.
